The Project "Amazonas - The Life on the River" is signed by photographer
Guilherme Imhoff, who was a member of the Photography Center of FABICO,
while he studied Publicity at UFRGS. This project was, in June 2003, one of
the sixty selected works, from a total of 580 enrolled, to receive a prize
offered by the Paris City Hall. After two months, living together with the
riparian populations, in the surroundings of the majestic Amazonas River, he
got photographical images which excel due to the magnificent environmental
colors, the geographic excellence of the great river and the expressions of
the amazonense people. Imhoff, who suddenly passed away in Porto Alegre,
moments before inaugurating his exhibition on this project, leaves us a
legacy - the certainty that we live in a country where difficulties which
are imposed on us are overcome through work, friendship, joy, respect to
other beings and, mainly, through the love we have for everything that we
do.
