SPYDER EYES
Rafael
Johann is part of the Photography Center’s
team since 2000 and has been working on pinhole
photography since 2001. In his latest work, he built
a 20-eyed pinhole camera with which he produces
multiple images on a single photographic paper.
Rafael also Works with the Magic Cam Group
and studies Visual Arts at the Federal University
of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).
In
this show he presents the images obtained with this
20-pinholed camera. As he reports:
"To
obtain those images, I built a 20 pinhole camera,
made from a cardboard box. As negative, I use BW
photographic paper (24X30cm)
Each photograph is a large image composed by many
small images, and looks like a spider-view of the
city – a 20-eyed urban spider. Sometimes it´s
almost an abstract composition, as the images don´t
represent the buildings and streets as they realy
are. It´s just the forms, the lines and the
texture of those urban sceneries."
