Specialties and Lines of Research

SPECIALTY – POLICIES AND CLINICAL PRACTICES IN NURSING & HEALTH SCIENCES

 

These lines of research are focused on themes related to public policies and individual and collective healthcare. The main objectives are the development, organization and evaluation of Nursing & Health Sciences. The students will analyse studies in relation to the promotion, education, and prevention in Nursing & Health Sciences.

LINES OF RESEARCH

Each of the lines of research offered in our graduate program focuses on a different aspect of Nursing & Health Sciences. Research groups address specific issues within each field and conduct research projects on the topic.


Policies, Evaluation and Care in Nursing & Health Sciences 

The focus of this line of research is the process of construction and implementation of public policies, and the evaluation and care in Nursing & Health Sciences.

Work Organization and Management in Nursing & Health Sciences

This line of research focuses on management, care-providing, work organization, and related issues in Nursing & Health Sciences.

Promotion, Education and Prevention in Nursing and Health Sciences

This line of research focuses on developing collective health studies and interventions, with practices and policies in Nursing & Health Sciences as the objective. The students will analyze the current state of health in the processes of health and illness, in the context of promotion, education and prevention in Nursing & Health Sciences.

KEY THEMES: Primary Healthcare; External causes of mortality (violence and accidents.); Family and Healthcare Social Networks; Aging and Health; Promotion of Health; Gender and Health; Permanent Education in Health; Training in Nursing and Health Sciences.

SPECIALTY – CARE IN NURSING AND HEALTH SCIENCES

 

These lines of research are related to the care and nursing practices adapted to the human being’s development periods, in health and illness. Their goals are to analyse and develop methods, instruments and technology in nursing, health and education. The historical, social and cultural contexts of the human being are taken into account. 

 

LINES OF RESEARCH

Nursing Care for Women, Children, Adolescents and Family

This line of research aims at developing and integrating knowledge related to the care and nursing practices for women, children, adolescents and family, having as its objective the understanding of the health and illness processes in order to propose adequate intervention.

THEMATIC AREA: Women Health at all Stages of Life and in Relation to Social and Cultural Contexts; Reproductive Health; Lactation Period; Health of Newborn Babies, Children, Adolescents and Family; Growing and Development of Children in Relation to Social and Cultural Contexts and Family; Historical and Teaching-Learning Processes Related to the Health of Women, Children, Adolescents and Family.

Healthcare Technology in Nursing

This line of research focuses on healthcare in Nursing & Health Sciences at all levels of complexity. The students will develop and analyze methods, instruments and technologies to be applied in Nursing & Health Sciences and education. The historical, social and cultural contexts of the human being are taken into account. 

KEY THEMES: Care in Nursing; Nursing Classification Systems; Health Information and Communication Systems; Technology, Concepts and Models of Care in Nursing; Clinical, Economical and Social Aspects of Technology Use in Education and Health; Cultural Aspects in Relation to Health, Education and Nursing.
