Epidemiology Of Diabetes Mellitus

 

Description:

It addresses the epidemiology of diabetes, seeking to quantify its frequency and its burden of morbidity and mortality, as well as to identify its risk and prognostic factors. In the research process, causal models for diabetes are proposed, aiming to test and refine them with statistical models. The research line also develops and evaluates diabetes prevention actions and its complications.

It investigates disease burden from the Burden of Disease Global Project of the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation, University of Washington, Seattle. One focus is the global assessments of the study, other focuses include particularities of the disease burden in Brazil and issues related to diabetes and obesity.

Nutritional Epidemiology


Description:

Study of the relationship between nutrition and health at various stages of life. Its basic objectives are: To measure eating habits and their determinants and their role in the development of diseases. It also studies other exposures that influence health and nutrition, such as physical activity and food security. Nutritional changes studied range from protein-energy malnutrition, specific micronutrient deficiencies to overweight-related problems such as obesity. In addition, it seeks to develop and evaluate nutrition interventions aimed at improving population health.

Pharmacoepidemiology

 

Description:

The search line is organized in two axes. The first line deals with quantitative studies involving the use and access to medicines as well as aspects of obtaining information quality, adherence to treatment, costs and financing. Studies on the use of medicinal products in their broadest dimension are also contemplated, including prescription, pharmacovigilance and methodological studies. The second axis deals with qualitative studies that aims to understand the most subjective aspects in the use of medicines, whose central theme is the perception of risk and care with the use of medicines.
