Research focuses on the area of Private international law, especially regarding the protection of weaker parties, consumers, small business and non-profit organizations; the main subjects are: the international protection of consumers, the financial crisis, over-indebtedness, cross-border e-commerce, services and complex contracts in the mass society, consumption, information and credit society, the protection of international tourists, the international cooperation, the access of weaker parties to justice, consumer and commercial arbitration, collective redress, civil society participation on the international regulatory process, soft law, codification of international law, update of national rules on conflicts of law, interaction between Public International Law and Human rights on PIL, specially on the integration process (Mercosur, EU, NAFTA) and on the recognition of the vulnerabilities of agents on the international scenario and in the scope of Private international Law
