Group`s History

Since its foundation, the research group has investigated themes related to the configuration, structure and functioning of families and couples, based on a psychosocial perspective.

The research conducted by the group aims to subside the comprehension of the changes that have been occurring in the family, in order to propose new alternatives and interventions that may improve the health of the family system. The Systemic and Ecological-Contextual theories are the theoretical foundations that support the group since its foundation, in 1995.
Students of all levels – undergraduates and graduates – most of them supported by sponsor agencies as Capes, CNPq and FAPERGS are linked to the research projects. The issues that generate these projects are, at different levels, associated with the research lines and topics of investigation of the coordinator, who is a CNPq researcher and productivity scholar, since 1996.

The research group gathers weekly to discuss general and operational aspects of the ongoing research projects. Besides, study seminars with the participants of the group construct the necessary abilities to develop the activities related to the research and academic formation.

The spirit of cooperation and commitment with the research work carried out at different levels is the group’s proposal is what promotes the learning and integration of its members, in the perspective of full and early training of researchers.
