Specific frequencies of globular clusters in cluster galaxies and intracluster light in Abell 1689 (Karla Alamo – UFRGS)

16 de maio de 2018: 12:30 - 13:30

Abell 1689 is one of the most massive galaxy clusters with a very high galactic density in its core. I will show how using very deep imaging with the ACS/HST in the F814W bandpass, we were able to estimate a lower limit for the amount of light and globular clusters that are not associated to individual galaxies but that are bound to the galaxy cluster potential well. We estimate the specific frequencies for the galaxies and ICL, and look for dependencies with environment and kinematics obtained from the literature. We also estimate the mass of the central black hole system inferred from the BCG core size, obtaining 4×10^{10} solar masses, an ultramassive black hole.
