Embora ainda n\u00e3o tenha revelado quem ser\u00e1 o embaixador, a Uni\u00e3o Africana cumpre com o Memorando de Entendimento assinado entre as duas partes no in\u00edcio de 2015, quando foi acordado que a China abriria uma miss\u00e3o permanente na UA, fato consumado com a ida do diplomata Kuang Weilin para Addis Abeba em maio deste ano, e a UA seguiria o mesmo caminho enviando um representante para Beijing.
