The University Extension is the set of actions that involve the development of projects, programs, courses, events, services and educational and artistic cultural social activities geared to both the university community and to society in general. The extension has enabled closer links between university and society, establishing partnerships with governmental and nongovernmental sectors, developing actions involving professors, staff and students in interdisciplinary activities. The direct interaction with the population can be recognized in actions aimed at health care from the point of view of disease prevention, education regarding self-medication, drugs and dietary supplements among adults and young people in primary and secondary education. School children have also been benefited from our extension projects, specifically with the diagnosis of parasitic diseases.
