Sly Wongchuig Correa

Agricultural Engineer (2010) graduated from the National University Agraria la Molina (UNALM) in Peru. MSc. in Water Resources in Agricultural Systems at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) in Brazil. PhD in Water Resources and Environmental Sanitation at the Institute of Hydraulic Research (IPH) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Brazil.

He worked with the model of erosion hydric of soil 3D RUSLE and the characterization of potential rainfall index in the Mantaro basin on the Peruvian Andes, in a context of climate change by the end of this century (considering the A1B-IPCC climate scenario).

During his PhD he worked on characterization of historical extreme events in the Amazon Basin through its hydrological and hydrodynamic processes, as well as the determination of vulnerable regions to drought and floods, by the developing of products called Hydrologic Retrospective and Hydrologic Reanalysis, which consist in accurate spatio-temporal hydrologic variables developed through modeling and data assimilation techniques by using in-situ observations and remote sensing products.

Currently works at IGE (Institut des Géosciences de l’Environnement), University of Grenoble Alpes in the AMANECER project under the context of the initiative Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) from the France government.
