Cole\u00e7\u00f5es zool\u00f3gicas s\u00e3o o registro permanente da biodiversidade do planeta. T\u00eam o objetivo e o compromisso de preservar de forma ordenada, esp\u00e9cimes que representam a diversidade biol\u00f3gica de organismos f\u00f3sseis e atuais.<\/span><\/p>

Em 2011 foi iniciada a primeira cole\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica do MUCIN, a cole\u00e7\u00e3o ornitol\u00f3gica. Al\u00e9m desta, atualmente contamos com quatro cole\u00e7\u00f5es adicionais: mam\u00edferos, moluscos, por\u00edferos e r\u00e9pteis. Os processos de prepara\u00e7\u00e3o, curadoria, tombamento, armazenamento, preserva\u00e7\u00e3o e manuten\u00e7\u00e3o do acervo s\u00e3o desenvolvidos por estagi\u00e1rios bolsistas e volunt\u00e1rios do setor de cole\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas, sendo supervisionados pela curadora geral e pelos curadores espec\u00edficos das cole\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/span><\/p>

Os esp\u00e9cimes pertencentes \u00e0s cole\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas prov\u00eam em sua maioria do Centro de Reabilita\u00e7\u00e3o de Animais Silvestres e Marinhos (CERAM) e de atividades de pesquisa desenvolvidas pelos pesquisadores do CECLIMAR, como o monitoramento de praias realizado sistematicamente desde 2012. Al\u00e9m destas fontes, tamb\u00e9m recebe doa\u00e7\u00f5es e contribui\u00e7\u00f5es de outras institui\u00e7\u00f5es de ensino e pesquisa, bem como da comunidade local.<\/span><\/p>

Os principais objetivos das cole\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas do MUCIN s\u00e3o preservar a biodiversidade do litoral do Rio Grande do Sul; dar suporte a atividades de pesquisa sobre biologia, ecologia, hist\u00f3ria natural e gen\u00e9tica dos esp\u00e9cimes depositados em seu acervo e realizar a comunica\u00e7\u00e3o desse acervo por meio de suas exposi\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/span><\/p>
