The International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression gathers researchers and musicians from all over the world to share their knowledge and late-breaking work on new musical interface design. The conference started out as a workshop at the Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) in 2001. Since then, an annual series of international conferences have been held around the world, hosted by research groups dedicated to interface design, human-computer interaction, and computer music.
In its nineteenth edition, NIME crosses the Equatorial line, happening for the first time in its history in the Latin America. Porto Alegre, capital of the Rio Grande do Sul state, located in the extreme south of Brazil, is the chosen city for hosting the conference in 2019. The conference will take place at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul from Jun 3rd to Jun 6th. Preparations have begun, and the Organizing Committee welcomes participants, scientists and artists from various parts of the world who are engaged in expanding the expressive boundaries of Music.
