Fraternity Campaign 2021

The 2021 Ecumenical Fraternity Campaign was launched on February 17 by the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) and the National Council of Christian Churches (Conic), with the theme “Fraternity and Dialogue: commitment to love” and the motto “Christ is our peace: what was divided, made one unity”.

For the CNBB secretary general, Dom Joel Portella Amado, the campaign aims to cultivate openness to dialogue and overcoming disagreements, especially during the pandemic. According to him, “the virus, already so lethal in itself, found allies in indifference, denialism, obscurantism, contempt for life. Let us therefore be allies in responsibility, lucidity and fraternity.”

The 2020 Fraternity Campaign addressed mutual care between people, and the importance of dialogue is a continuation of its proposal. Dialogue does not mean thinking the same way, but having an open mind to new perspectives and accepting divergent opinions.
