Don't put on makeup, report it

In December 2025, the Women's Secretariat of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, created in September of the same year, launched the “Don't make up, report it” campaign, aimed at preventing violence against women. The campaign emerged as a response to the alarming numbers of femicides and attempted femicides in the State, which totaled 289 from January to October.

At the campaign launch event, governor Eduardo Leite highlighted one of its purposes: to remember that violence against women does not begin with feminicide. "It starts when someone tries to silence, limit, control. And this cannot be normalized," he declared. The director of Advertising and Marketing at the Rio Grande do Sul Department of Communication, Natacha Gastal, reinforced: "We are not just launching a campaign. We are presenting a public position. Violence against women is not a women's problem, it is a problem of society. This is a turning point in the way the State communicates and assumes this responsibility."
