National Kindness and Generosity Week
The 4th National Education Week for Kindness and Generosity (SNEGG), which takes place between October 1st and 7th, invites schools, families and organizations to rethink the role of human values in building a democratic and inclusive society. The initiative reaffirms values that are often called into question by the daily rush, political polarization and the post-truth digital environment. By proposing reflections on how kindness and generosity shape fairer and more balanced relationships, SNEGG questions the dimension of collectivity we wish to cultivate, highlighting the contrast between broad and restricted visions of community, which directly impacts policies, resources and social values.
Generosity is more than a principle, it is an ideal of life that promotes collective good and co-responsibility. In this scenario, SNEGG acts as a pedagogical tool by encouraging practices of kindness, solidarity, respect, citizenship, diversity and sustainability, forming new generations committed to the collective. Kindness and generosity are not private virtues, but instruments of emancipation, which invite reflection on the role of education as the basis of active and inclusive citizenship, capable of confronting individualistic logic and sustaining a long-term democratic project.
More than an educational agenda, National Week represents an invitation to revisit commitments to the world and strengthen the culture of giving from basic education. The big challenge is to transform values into everyday practices with children, uniting family and school. Donating is not just transferring resources, but sharing power, trust and vision of the future. When we teach generosity, solidarity and respect from an early age, citizenship and diversity become ways of existing, and giving stops being an extraordinary gesture and becomes an essential part of everyday life.
