Yellow September - SBP

Since 2014, the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry - ABP, in partnership with the Federal Council of Medicine - CFM, has organized the Yellow September® nationwide. The 10th of this month is officially the World Suicide Prevention Day, but the campaign takes place throughout the year.

About 12 thousand suicides are registered every year in Brazil and more than 01 million in the world. This is a sad reality, which records more and more cases, especially among young people. Around 96.8% of suicide cases were related to mental disorders. First is depression, followed by bipolar disorder and substance abuse.

With the objective of preventing and reducing these numbers, the Yellow September® campaign has grown and today we conquer all of Brazil. For this, the support of our federations, nuclei, associates and society as a whole is essential.

As a result of a lot of effort, in 2016, we secured unprecedented spaces in the press and signed many partnerships. We were also able to light historic monuments, tourist spots, for the first time Christ the Redeemer, public and private spaces throughout Brazil. Hundreds of people participated in walks and actions to raise awareness of this important topic.
