Zika: lives that affect

Fiocruz launched the virtual exhibition “Zika: lives that affect”, which marks the 120th anniversary of the institution. The show was produced by the Zika Social Sciences Network in partnership with Casa de Oswaldo Cruz (COC/Fiocruz) and is the result of research on the subject. With the aim of raising awareness about the Congenital Zika Virus Syndrome (SCVZ), it presents its impacts beyond microcephaly.

By informing and sensitizing the population, the exhibition addresses the arrival of the zika virus in Brazil, the experiences and challenges faced by affected families and the mobilization of researchers, professionals and SUS managers. It also raises reflection on next steps, such as vaccine development and inclusive education. In addition, it highlights the fundamental role of the Unified Health System (SUS) in response to the virus and care for families.
