Several mechanisms may contribute to the adaptation of plants to heterogeneous environmental conditions, including the diversity of anthocyanin compounds, which can provide adaptive value by enhancing the plant’s ability to cope with various stresses such as UV radiation, drought, and pathogen attack. This study aims to explore the genetic and biochemical variability of anthocyanins in natural populations of this species, investigating the possible adaptations of the species to heterogeneous environments. The central objective of this work is to analyze and characterize the biochemical composition of these anthocyanins in parental populations of E. uniflora from restinga and riparian forest, as well as their transplanted progenies. Additionally, the study seeks to identify, in silico, the genes involved in the biosynthesis of these pigments, using phylogenetic analyses to understand the evolutionary relationship between the genes and to evaluate the differential expression (DEGs) of these genes under environmental stress conditions. Phylogenetic reconstructions were carried out with various species from the phylum Streptophyta. In the genome of E. uniflora, three paralogs of the F3H gene (Flavanone 3-Hydroxylase), two of the F3’H gene (Flavonoid 3’-Hydroxylase), and single copies of the F3’5’H (Flavonoid 3’5’-Hydroxylase), DFR (Dihydroflavonol 4-Reductase), and ANS (Anthocyanidin Synthase) genes were identified, all components of the biosynthetic pathway, including EBG (Early Biosynthetic Genes) and LBG (Late Biosynthetic Genes). Bioinformatic analyses showed that almost all E. uniflora paralogs clustered with orthologs from Eucalyptus grandis, confirming the phylogenetic relationship as both species belong to the Myrtaceae family. The analysis of conserved motifs and domains revealed high similarity with species functionally characterized for the selected genes, such as Vitis vinifera and Arabidopsis thaliana. The progenies of E. uniflora were subjected to drought conditions, which influenced the differential expression of several genes, with particular emphasis on the F3H gene (g23674), which was both upregulated and downregulated under drought conditions. Future perspectives include the use of additional computational tools to better characterize the predicted genes, as well as molecular and quantitative analyses of anthocyanins via HPLC-qToF-MS and their correlation with the environments in which they occur. This information will be valuable for strengthening the conservation of genetic resources, identifying differentiated biochemical profiles among populations, and understanding the mechanisms of species adaptation.

O2 de outubro de 2024 (quarta-feira) 12h SEMINÁRIO DE DADOS (Mestrado) GUSTAVO MAIA LEÃO Unraveling the Genetic and Biochemical Diversity of Anthocyanins in Eugenia uniflora: A Comparative Study of Restinga […]

[108

post-15617","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-seminarios-e-defesas
["GET
