Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Pilot Project in Amazonas aims to monitor priority congenital anomalies and compare them with SINASC data. The data are collected in reference hospitals. What has already been collected on\u00a0 CHD will be presented, showing which anomalies, demographic data of the mothers, and risk factors, in this population in Amazonas at the Francisca Mendes Hospital. An observational cross-sectional study was carried out. The study included children diagnosed with CHD born from August 2022 to August 2024. Children were separated into two groups for comparison: (1) children with only CHD (isolated) and; (2) children with CHD associated with congenital anomalies in other organs or systems, including genetic syndromes. Children with more than one defect in the heart (e.g. ventricular sept defect and PDA) were classified as isolated. Initially, 121 cases with CHD were identified through medical records, 43 (35%) of them resulting in death.\u00a0\u00a0Only 72 surviving children were evaluated. Of these, 68% were evaluated as isolated CHD. The most frequent anomalies were the ventricular septal defects (47.2%), followed by PDA ( 43\u00a0 %) and atrial septal defects ( 36%). Only 6% of cases had prenatal diagnosis. The diagnosis of CHD was made mainly at birth and especially after birth Newborn screening test for CHD was performed in 80% in Manaus, and\u00a0 78% and obtained normal result. Maternal characteristics and risk factors assessed were age, skin color, education, BMI before pregnancy, comorbidities, gestational exposure and compared between the groups with isolated and associated CHD using the chi-square test. Discrete differences observed between groups. Most of the children were full term. The cases were distributed on the state map to show their origin. The study highlights some challenges still to be faced by the state’s health system, in terms of risk factors observed for CHD, which are in line with those described in the literature.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
