ECP 0055 \u2013 Population Ecology: Theoretical Foundations of Population Dynamics ( 3 credits)<\/h2>\n <\/div>\n

\n\nThe course of Population Ecology presents an introduction to the ecological theory of population growth along with training in R programming and simulation of ecological data. The content begins with the presentation of the exponential population growth model, with all its simplifying assumptions, and progresses over seven classes, sequentially eliminating one premise at a time and exploring the consequences. The analytical reasoning practiced throughout the discipline is essential for any sub-area of ecology, while understanding the mechanisms of population growth is particularly important for understanding the processes that operate at the community level. In the morning, we will have two hours of theoretical classes and in the afternoon two and a half hours of practical classes, with breaks in both sessions. The practical component will be entirely developed in the R environment. <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

\nTo present and discuss the existing theoretical bases in community ecology, based on the study of concepts and empirical studies focused on different taxonomic groups (plants and animals).
