A brief historical and current characterization of the Graduate Program in Education of UFRGS allows us to highlight the following aspects: the Program underwent several processes of evaluation and self-evaluation, which resulted in a continuous movement of organizations and reorganizations; it is an important geopolitical and geoeducational reference; it is in a moment of institutional and academic renewal, with implications and consequences in line with the current context of Graduate Studies in Brazil and, mainly, with the present impasses in Graduate Studies in Education. We observe a growing trend throughout the history of the Program, with the increase in the number of professors, students, and, consequently, graduates.
