PPGEdu performs a simultaneous annual selection process for candidates of master’s and doctorate degree programs. The offer of vacancies is carried out according to Research Line and is conditioned to the advising capacity of faculty and of the Program as a whole. Therefore, the selection depends on the availability of vacancies per advisor announced in annual notice. Since November 2010, this process went through several upgrades and has been changed in the following aspects: (a) change of timetable for admission of new students in the second semester of each year; (b) publication of all stages of the process to allow for greater transparency, in compliance with Resolution 150/2008 of the Graduation Studies Board; (c) discussion and preparation of a new model of selection notice, with intense participation of the Council and of each of the research lines; (d) classification of each candidate by grades (weighted average) by our assessment instruments; (e) clarification and delineation of bibliographical listing by research line; and (f) precision of number of vacancies per advisor and research line, in line with Ordinance 203/2011 of Capes, which established the limit of eight advisees per advisor.
