After the Cold War and under unipolarity, liberal internationalism and primacy strategies of the United States aimed at rendering balance of power dynamics inactive failed. Here I analyze the changing theoretical divide between competing American grand strategies. Despite many scholars claiming that \u201cAmerica first\u201d resembles a strategy of primacy or neo-isolationism, I argue that it is revealing itself to be a balance of power strategy. Contrary to what its critics advocate, I also argue that this adjustment in strategy adequately fits current structural changes and is not an irrational strategy, although it carries its own risks in a world of intense interstate competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufrgs.br\/ppgeei\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/DALLAGNOL_2020_The-End-of-the-Unipolar-Illusion-1.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-17fee809-a83b-4361-a4e6-ad3b1909e35d\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Autor: Augusto C.
