Denise Maria Zancan
PhD in Physiology (UFRGS)
Professor in the Department of Physiology at UFRGS. Prof. Denise Zancan obtained her PhD in Physiology, characterizing neurochemical systems from invertebrate experimental models at UFRGS. At Neuroscience Graduate Program she is Professor of Neurophysiology, Invertebrate Neurobiology, and Advisor of the teaching practice for the doctoral students. Her research in neurophysiology has been focused on Neurobiology of behavior (studies on the reproductive and aversive behaviors of zebrafish) and on Neurobiology of pathological conditions (studies on the effects of parasitism on behavior, using an invertebrate animal as an experimental model). Prof. D. Zancan also develops teaching tools in neurophysiology, coordinates the extension activities of the Neuroscience Graduate Program, “Neurosciences in Social Media”, and since 2009 she has coordinated the Neuroscience Courses at UFRGS.
