Jorge Alberto Quillfeldt
PhD in Physiology (UFRGS)
He has been a Full Professor in the Department of Biophysics at the Institute of Biosciences since 1997. He holds a degree in Physics (1986), a Master's in Biochemistry (1989), and a PhD in Physiology (1994). He founded and has directed the Laboratory of Psychobiology and Neurocomputing (LPBNC), established in 1997. He was one of the founders of the Graduate Program in Neurosciences at ICBS and is responsible for the courses in Teaching Internship and Membranes and Ion Channels I. As a researcher and supervisor, he focuses on Neuropharmacology and Psychobiology of Memory, conducting studies in animal models. He is part of the ReBraEM (Brazilian Network for Memory Studies). His research topics include muscarinic cholinergic modulation (M4) and/or endocannabinoid (CB1) modulation of memory, as well as the dynamics of systemic consolidation and post-reactivation processes such as memory reconsolidation and extinction, focusing on the role of the neurocircuitry involved, both hippocampal and cortical.
