Professor Denise Bandeira, from Institute of Psychology, Social Service, Health and Human Communication at UFRGS, and his doctoral student in the Graduate Program in Psychology Adriana Schutz were selected for scholarships at Yale University, offered by the Fulbright Educational and Cultural Exchange Program. The teacher and the student carry out the research together “Impacts of the covid-19 pandemic on child development: a cross-cultural study”.
“The idea is to try to do something more comparative between the impact of the pandemic on preschool children here in Brazil and in the United States”, comments Denise. She explains that data will be analyzed on those born before and during the pandemic, in addition to collecting information on children born after this period. For this, psychological assessment instruments are used such as the Dimensional Child Development Assessment Inventory (IDADI), which has the teacher as its author.
Denise and Adriana carried out different selection processes. The professor received a scholarship for the Chair in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Yale University, lasting four months, in which she will teach the subject “Development and adaptation of measuring instruments” while also carrying out research. The doctoral student, on the other hand, obtained a scholarship for a sandwich doctorate, lasting nine months.
