Applying

Students may apply for admission to the Graduate Program in Psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in two ways:

The first one takes place through a public admission process of the Graduate Program in Psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in which Brazilian, as well as foreign students may participate. The process is regulated by a public notice that determines the registration period and the admission format (usually exams and interviews). The public notice is published between August and September, and the registrations and exams usually occur in October. The public notice for the last admission process is published on our webpage:  http://www.ufrgs.br/ppgpsicologia/?cd=61&pagina=selecao

After the admission process, individual scholarships may be granted according to the applicant’s rank position, as long as the student does not have an employment contract.

The second admission method is through a scholarship outside the Graduate Program. In this case, it is necessary to contact an advisor directly. In case the advisor is available, the applicant must send documents to the Program office to be analyzed by a committee of professors. It is also necessary to send an English proficiency certificate (Toefl minimum score 70 on IBT; IELTS 5,5; Cambridge: PET (minimum B1),  FCE, CAE or CPE.), research project (pre-proposal for thesis or dissertation), CV, digital copy of Master’s thesis (for PhD students) and a letter of presentation showing the reasons for choosing the graduate program and the advisor. The prospect advisor and the committee might also require complementary information or an interview (in person or online).

English proficiency certificate is a pre-requisite to start applications.
