Program Goals

The main goals of this program are: 

a) Evaluation of children and adolescents who possibly have ADHD;

b) Community lectures to educate families and patients with ADHD;

c) Treatment of children, adolescents and adults with ADHD through pharmacological and psychosocial interventions, with later referral to assistance in the public or private health care system;

d) Elaboration and conduction of research on clinically relevant aspects of ADHD;

e) The development of a reference center for the treatment of children and adolescents with ADHD from Porto Alegre´s state schools, strengthening the already existent ties between the Service of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre and the Secretary of Education of Rio Grande do Sul;

f) The development of a reference center for consultation of children and adults with ADHD who are already receiving treatment from mental health care professionals in the public and private health care system of Porto Alegre;

g) The establishment of fellowships and learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, focusing on clinical and treatment aspects of ADHD in the context of evidence-based medicine.
