Resumo<\/strong>:
\n<\/span>O trabalho trata da avalia\u00e7\u00e3o da qualidade da produ\u00e7\u00e3o do Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida na Regi\u00e3o Metropolitana de Porto Alegre, na busca de subs\u00eddios para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o da habita\u00e7\u00e3o social. Primeiramente, foi investigado se existem padr\u00f5es espaciais de localiza\u00e7\u00e3o diferenciados para as Faixas de renda 1, 2 e 3, que poderiam gerar diferentes n\u00edveis de integra\u00e7\u00e3o do conjunto no tecido urbano consolidado. A partir da identifica\u00e7\u00e3o dos padr\u00f5es espaciais de localiza\u00e7\u00e3o, foi verificada a exist\u00eancia de rela\u00e7\u00e3o desses padr\u00f5es com as diretrizes da pol\u00edtica urbana em n\u00edvel local, expressas atrav\u00e9s da regula\u00e7\u00e3o urban\u00edstica, propiciando localiza\u00e7\u00f5es mais adequadas para a habita\u00e7\u00e3o de interesse social. Ainda, teve o objetivo de averiguar se o modelo de cidade (estrutura do espa\u00e7o urbano) que est\u00e1 sendo produzido pelo Programa MCMV na RMPA apresentou avan\u00e7os em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 produ\u00e7\u00e3o habitacional do BNH (Banco Nacional de Habita\u00e7\u00e3o), no tocante aos padr\u00f5es espaciais de localiza\u00e7\u00e3o dos empreendimentos. A seguir, foram analisados se os padr\u00f5es espaciais de localiza\u00e7\u00e3o geram impactos sobre as condi\u00e7\u00f5es de mobilidade e de acesso a oportunidades de desenvolvimento humano e econ\u00f4mico e afetam os n\u00edveis de satisfa\u00e7\u00e3o dos moradores com o desempenho dos conjuntos. Os procedimentos metodol\u00f3gicos adotados incluem m\u00faltiplos m\u00e9todos de coleta de dados e an\u00e1lises que possibilitaram complementariedade entre os dados obtidos atrav\u00e9s de levantamento de arquivo, levantamento f\u00edsico e aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de question\u00e1rios. A an\u00e1lise estat\u00edstica dos dados quantitativos foi realizada atrav\u00e9s da verifica\u00e7\u00e3o das frequ\u00eancias e realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de testes n\u00e3o-param\u00e9tricos, como Kruskal-Wallis e Spearman. Foi utilizada a an\u00e1lise sint\u00e1tica para medir os n\u00edveis de integra\u00e7\u00e3o. Os resultados obtidos confirmam que a produ\u00e7\u00e3o do Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida apresenta um padr\u00e3o espacial de localiza\u00e7\u00e3o, especialmente para a Faixa 1, com empreendimentos de m\u00e9dio e grande porte, distantes do centro urbano consolidado e segregados do entorno. As localiza\u00e7\u00f5es dos empreendimentos da Faixas 2 e 3 s\u00e3o bastante similares, por\u00e9m um pouco melhores do que as localiza\u00e7\u00f5es dos empreendimentos da Faixa 1, que tendem promover diferentes n\u00edveis de satisfa\u00e7\u00e3o com o desempenho dos conjuntos e diferentes impactos sobre a qualidade de vida dos moradores. Finalmente, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel concluir que o padr\u00e3o de localiza\u00e7\u00e3o dos empreendimentos do Programa MCMV na Regi\u00e3o Metropolitana de Porto Alegre parece n\u00e3o apresentar avan\u00e7os em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 produ\u00e7\u00e3o habitacional do BNH e \u00e9 ressaltada a import\u00e2ncia de avaliar os impactos da localiza\u00e7\u00e3o de conjuntos habitacionais na satisfa\u00e7\u00e3o geral dos moradores, na busca da produ\u00e7\u00e3o de espa\u00e7os residenciais qualificados que contribuam para a sustentabilidade urbana.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe study deals with quality evaluation of the housing program \u201cMinha Casa Minha Vida\u201d (MCMV) implemented in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, in order to subsidize the social housing production. Firstly, it aimed at investigate if there are different patterns of spatial location according to income groups 1, 2 and 3, which might generate different levels of integration of the housing scheme in the consolidated urban grid. Secondly, it was verified whether the location patterns are related to urban legislation at local level, incorporated in the urban regulation and resulting in locations that are more appropriate to social housing production. Moreover, it was intended to explore if the structure of the urban space produced by the Program MCMV in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre showed improvements in relation to social housing produced by the National Housing Bank (BNH), considering spatial patterns of location of the housing schemes. Following, the patterns of spatial location were analyzed in order to test their impacts on the conditions of mobility and access to human and economic development opportunities that affect the level of resident satisfaction with the performance of housing schemes. Methodological procedures included multiple methods of data collection and analysis which enabled complementarities between the data obtained through archive information, physical measurements and questionnaires. The statistical analysis of quantitative data was carried out by means of frequencies and non-parametric tests such as Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman correlations. Spatial syntax analysis was used in order to measure levels of integration. Results confirm the existence of patterns of location, especially for the lowest income group, with large and medium size housing schemes distant from the consolidated urban area and segregated from its surroundings. The location of housing schemes for income groups 2 and 3 are similar, but slightly better than the locations of housing schemes for income group 1, which tend to promote different levels of resident satisfaction with the performance of the housing schemes and different impacts on their quality of life. Finally, it was possible to conclude that the patterns of location of the housing schemes produced in the Program MCMV in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre did not improve in relation to social housing produced by the National Housing Bank (BNH) and highlights the importance of assessing the impacts of location of housing schemes on the overall residents satisfaction, in order to produce more qualified residential spaces that promote urban sustainability.<\/span><\/p>\n

Resumo<\/strong>:
\n<\/span>O tema deste trabalho centra-se no desenvolvimento regional articulado em diferentes categorias de an\u00e1lise dentro de uma perspectiva econ\u00f4mica. Este enfoque apoia-se em dois aspectos: diversidade e converg\u00eancia. A diversidade \u00e9 verificada no campo dos agentes sociais, ou seja, a popula\u00e7\u00e3o, capital humano e suas formas de produ\u00e7\u00e3o do territ\u00f3rio. J\u00e1 a converg\u00eancia \u00e9 interpretada na perspectiva pol\u00edtica atrav\u00e9s dos distintos interesses e negocia\u00e7\u00f5es que viabilizam as din\u00e2micas regionais. O objeto de estudo constitui-se num contexto regional, o COREDE Norte, no RS, que tem como centro urbano estrat\u00e9gico Erechim, no per\u00edodo compreendido basicamente entre 1991 e 2010. A pesquisa tem como problema de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o a an\u00e1lise de como tem ocorrido o processo de desenvolvimento no COREDE Norte e, mais especialmente, em Erechim. Parte-se da premissa de que o desenvolvimento regional est\u00e1 diretamente relacionado ao conjunto de vari\u00e1veis capital, trabalho, capital humano e tecnologia, que tendem a adicionar valor e que potencializam os valores econ\u00f4micos e sociais de uma dada regi\u00e3o. Para as an\u00e1lises destas quatro vari\u00e1veis, o trabalho foi decomposto em 14 indicadores, tendo sido utilizados 111 dados estat\u00edsticos, os quais serviram para ratificar a hip\u00f3tese central da pesquisa. Este trabalho refor\u00e7a a ideia de que deve ser considerada a cria\u00e7\u00e3o, no Brasil, da figura jur\u00eddica da Regi\u00e3o, pois principalmente dadas nossas dimens\u00f5es territoriais, a divis\u00e3o em Estados e Munic\u00edpios tem se apresentado insuficiente para a gest\u00e3o focada no desenvolvimento. Tamb\u00e9m mostra a necessidade de que se efetivem as atitudes em escala regional, visto que somente com o fortalecimento de um conjunto de munic\u00edpios poderemos ver cidades com melhores \u00edndices de desenvolvimento e, por consequ\u00eancia, que ofere\u00e7am melhor qualidade de vida a seus habitantes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
\nThis work\u2019s theme focuses on regional development articulated in different categories of analysis within an economic perspective. This approach relies on two aspects: diversity and convergence. Diversity is verified in the field of social agents, ie, population, human capital and its forms of production of the territory. Already convergence is interpreted in political perspective through the different interests and negotiations that enable the regional dynamics. The object of study is constituted in a regional context, the COREDE North, in the RS, which has a strategic urban center, Erechim, in the period basically between 1991 and 2010. The research\u2019s question problem is the analysis as has been the development process in COREDE North\u2019s region and more particularly in Erechim. It starts with the premise that regional development is directly associated to the set of variables capital, labor, human capital and technology, which tend to add value and that maximize the economic and social values of a given region. For the analysis of these four variables, the work was broken down into 14 indicators have been used 111 statistics, which served to confirm the central hypothesis of the research. This work reinforces the idea that the creation should be considered, in Brazil, the legal concept of the Region, as especially given our territorial dimensions, the division into states and municipalities has presented insufficient for management focused on the development. It also shows the need to give effect to the actions at the regional level, since only the strengthening of a number of municipalities we see cities with better development indices and therefore providing better quality of life for its<\/span><\/p>\n

Resumo<\/strong>:
\n<\/span>Este \u00e9 um trabalho historiogr\u00e1fico. Realiza uma genealogia do ensino de urbanismo na Faculdade de Arquitetura da UFRGS (FA-UFRGS). Busca, com isso, compreend\u00ea-lo e identificar seus sentidos subjacentes. Para tanto, recupera a trajet\u00f3ria do ensino da arquitetura e do urbanismo nas institui\u00e7\u00f5es que a deram origem \u2013 a Escola de Engenharia e o Instituto de Belas Artes \u2013 e percorre suas tr\u00eas primeiras d\u00e9cadas de exist\u00eancia. O recorte temporal se encerra nos anos 1970, momento em que ocorrem fatos que se revelariam capitais para o programa de ensino at\u00e9 hoje oferecido pela institui\u00e7\u00e3o: a extin\u00e7\u00e3o do curso de urbanismo, existente desde os anos 1940, a cria\u00e7\u00e3o do Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Planejamento Urbano e Regional (PROPUR) e a \u201cmigra\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d dos conte\u00fados do curso desaparecido ao PROPUR e \u00e0 gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em arquitetura. A tese sustenta que, na FA-UFRGS \u2013 desde o in\u00edcio, e at\u00e9 hoje \u2013 o ensino do urbanismo \u00e9 tribut\u00e1rio de saberes e pr\u00e1ticas an\u00e1logos aos do ensino da arquitetura, voltados essencialmente para o projeto de edifica\u00e7\u00f5es. Sendo assim, a instru\u00e7\u00e3o em urbanismo buscou desenvolver a aptid\u00e3o para elaborar projetos, entendidos como momento de s\u00edntese dos conhecimentos-diretores da produ\u00e7\u00e3o de artefatos, em ponto grande ou pequeno (Alberti). Este seria o eixo central, o tronco ou a espinha dorsal do ensino de urbanismo naquela institui\u00e7\u00e3o, abordado finalmente como uma extens\u00e3o (marginal) da arquitetura. O trabalho dialoga te\u00f3rico e metodologicamente com a pesquisa historiogr\u00e1fica. De um lado, com a hist\u00f3ria dos conceitos, que articula seus sentidos a um tempo. Mas tamb\u00e9m com aquela que trata da constitui\u00e7\u00e3o do urbanismo como dom\u00ednio de saberes e pr\u00e1ticas. Todavia, o faz a partir de corpo documental pouco usual, relativo ao ensino.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
\nThis is a historiographical study on the genealogy of urban planning teaching at the School of Architecture of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (FA-UFRGS), aiming at understanding and identifying its underlying directions. It retraces the first three decades of the history of architecture and urban planning from its origins – the School of Engineering and the Institute of Fine Arts. The last period studied is the 1970s, when landmarks of the current trajectory were established: the extinction of urban planning course that existed since the 1940s, the creation of the Graduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning (PROPUR) and the “migration” of the contents of the extinct course to PROPUR and to the undergraduate course in architecture. The thesis argues that at FA-UFRGS, since the beginning and until today, urban planning teaching is secondary to knowledge and practices applied in the teaching of architecture, essentially focused on building design. Therefore, urban planning education has sought to develop skills to develop projects, understood as the synthesis between guiding knowledge and the production of artifacts, according to Alberti. This is be the central axis, the trunk or the backbone of urban planning teaching, which has been essentially approached as an (marginal) extension of architecture. This thesis establishes a theoretical and methodological dialogue with historiographical research. On one hand, the history of concepts that links their meanings to a determined period, and on the other hand, it also discusses urban planning as a domain of knowledge and practices. However, this discussion is made from an unusual perspective \u2013 that of teaching.<\/span><\/p>\n

Resumo<\/strong>:
\n<\/span>A tese trata da cria\u00e7\u00e3o de novas universidades federais como resultado de demandas de atores territoriais. Tamb\u00e9m destaca a multidimensionalidade do poder e como a emerg\u00eancia de atores territoriais nas pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas constr\u00f3i novas formas de gest\u00e3o do territ\u00f3rio, a partir de pr\u00e1ticas mais democr\u00e1ticas e horizontalizadas. A hip\u00f3tese principal defendida nesta tese \u00e9 de que os atores podem ser mecanismos de transforma\u00e7\u00e3o dos usos do territ\u00f3rio, influenciando a a\u00e7\u00e3o do Estado sobre estes territ\u00f3rios. O estudo de caso da Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS) permitiu compreender como sua cria\u00e7\u00e3o e implanta\u00e7\u00e3o foram determinadas pela a\u00e7\u00e3o do Estado em intera\u00e7\u00e3o com os m\u00faltiplos atores e suas escalas de poder e gest\u00e3o. Temos, de um lado, um governo federal disposto a investir no ensino superior federal e, por outro, um territ\u00f3rio que apresenta uma diversidade de atores articulados em rede e que v\u00e3o, rapidamente, responder a este ambiente favor\u00e1vel. Estes atores v\u00e3o buscar impor suas reivindica\u00e7\u00f5es num contexto de abertura democr\u00e1tica e de valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o dos movimentos s\u00f3cio territoriais. A cria\u00e7\u00e3o da UFFS mostra que a influ\u00eancia dos atores territoriais nas decis\u00f5es do governo federal s\u00f3 foi poss\u00edvel pela emerg\u00eancia de uma escala intermedi\u00e1ria entre a escala federal e a regional\/local. Esta escala atuou como \u201cfiltro das demandas\u201d dos atores territoriais que, unidos nesta escala, fortaleceram seu poder de influ\u00eancia junto ao governo federal at\u00e9 alcan\u00e7arem a efetiva cria\u00e7\u00e3o da UFFS. Conclu\u00edmos que a experi\u00eancia da UFFS evidencia a emerg\u00eancia das escalas intermedi\u00e1rias no plano decisional e a import\u00e2ncia do planejamento como corpo regulador que media o jogo de interesses dos atores territoriais nas diferentes escalas de poder e gest\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/span><\/strong>
\nThis research analyses the creation of new federal universities as a result of territorial actor\u2019s demands. It also highlights the multidimensionality of power and how the emergence of territorial actors in public policy builds new ways of managing the territory from more democratic practices. The main hypothesis of the research is to study how the territorial actors can behave as changing instruments of the territorial usage influencing the actions of the State. The case study of the Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS) allowed understanding how their creation and implementation were determined by the State\u2019s action in interaction with multiple actors and its different scales of action. We have, on the one hand, a federal government willing to invest in federal higher education; on the other hand, we have a territory that presents a diversity of actors and its networks that will quickly respond to this favorable environment. The regional actors will attempt to impose their demands in a democratic context of openness and appreciation of the social territorial movements. The creation of the UFFS reveals that the influence of regional actors in the federal government decisions was only possible by the emergency of an intermediate scale (mesorregional scale) between the federal and regional\/local scales. This scale acted as a \u201cfilter of the territorial actor\u2019s demands\u201d that linked in this scale strengthened their influence on decision making at a federal level. We conclude that the UFFS experience highlights the emergence of intermediate scales in the decision-making process and emphasizes the importance of planning as a regulatory structure which mediates the interests of territorial actors in different scales of power and management.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>O Estatuto da Cidade, Lei n\u00ba 10.257\/2001, \u00e9 o marco legal do direito urban\u00edstico nacional, pois regulamenta o que a Constitui\u00e7\u00e3o Federal preconiza para as cidades brasileiras. Nesta tese foi pesquisado um conjunto de dados, extenso e objetivo: Pareceres t\u00e9cnicos que analisam inqu\u00e9ritos no Minist\u00e9rio P\u00fablico do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, por um per\u00edodo de dez anos, sobre quest\u00f5es urban\u00edsticas. Foi verificado se o Estatuto da Cidade \u00e9 atendido nas interven\u00e7\u00f5es analisadas. Para tanto foi criada uma metodologia, apresentada no corpo da tese. Os epis\u00f3dios considerados como em desacordo ao marco legal foram classificados e enumerados em 67 eventos. Estes foram ent\u00e3o analisados quantitativa e qualitativamente, sob os mais diversos crit\u00e9rios. Obtiveram-se conclus\u00f5es sobre uma tend\u00eancia generalizada de n\u00e3o atendimento ao Estatuto da Cidade e de como ele se manifesta, que resulta em consequ\u00eancias conflituosas para as cidades brasileiras.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe City Statute, Law n\u00ba 10.257\/2001, is the legal landmark for the national urban planning law, as it regulates what the Federal Constitution recommends for the brasilian cities. In this thesis we researched a set of data, extensive and objective: technical rulings which analyze investigations made by the Public Ministry of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, over a period of ten years, on urban planning matters. We checked if the City Statute has been met in the analyzed interventions. To achieve this, we created a methodology, which is presented in the body of the thesis. The episodes considered to be not in accordance with the legal landmark were classified and listed in 67 events. They were then analyzed under the most diverse criteria for their quantitative and qualitative status. The conclusions obtained point to a general pattern of non compliance with the City Statute and how it manifests itself, resulting in conflicting consequences for the brasilian cities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Este estudo trata da rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre a comunica\u00e7\u00e3o visual urbana e sua percep\u00e7\u00e3o e uso pelos indiv\u00edduos em deslocamento pela cidade. A investiga\u00e7\u00e3o concentrou-se na avalia\u00e7\u00e3o dos desempenhos est\u00e9tico e funcional da comunica\u00e7\u00e3o visual urbana em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 influ\u00eancia que cada desempenho tem na apreens\u00e3o do espa\u00e7o constru\u00eddo segundo duas condi\u00e7\u00f5es de mobilidade do transeunte \u2015 a p\u00e9 e de \u00f4nibus, e foi realizada atrav\u00e9s de um estudo de caso. Para tal, foram propostas tr\u00eas categorias de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o visual urbana: Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o de Ponto de Venda, Sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o Urbana P\u00fablica e M\u00eddia Exterior, elaborada uma metodologia a partir da Sintaxe Espacial e da Percep\u00e7\u00e3o Ambiental e selecionadas duas vias de Porto Alegre. A metodologia prop\u00f5e o estudo do transeunte em dois aspectos: a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o espacial do transeunte, utilizando a an\u00e1lise sint\u00e1tica do espa\u00e7o urbano, e a percep\u00e7\u00e3o diferencial do transeunte, atrav\u00e9s da avalia\u00e7\u00e3o da percep\u00e7\u00e3o da qualidade visual do ambiente constru\u00eddo. Foram exploradas as hip\u00f3teses de que (1) de modo geral, as pessoas n\u00e3o prestam aten\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 comunica\u00e7\u00e3o visual urbana, (2) existe uma percep\u00e7\u00e3o diferencial entre o transeunte em deslocamento a p\u00e9 e o transeunte em deslocamento em \u00f4nibus, e (3) esta diferencia\u00e7\u00e3o incide sobre as categorias e os desempenhos da comunica\u00e7\u00e3o visual urbana. Os resultados mostram que desempenho est\u00e9tico influencia a percep\u00e7\u00e3o dos dois tipos de transeuntes, entretanto o desempenho funcional \u00e9 especialmente relevante para os transeuntes de \u00f4nibus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe present study deals with the relationship between urban visual communication and its perception and use by individuals in displacement across the city. The research focused on the evaluation of both aesthetic and functional performances of urban visual communication regarding the influence that each performance has in the apprehension of built space in two conditions of mobility of passers-by: on foot and by bus, and was carried out through a study case. For this purpose, three categories of urban visual communication were proposed: Point of Purchase Communication, Urban and Public Signaling and Outdoors Media; a methodology based on Space Syntax and Environmental Perception was developed and two itineraries in Porto Alegre were selected. The methodology proposes the study of the passer-by under two aspects: space identification of the passer-by, using syntactic analysis of urban space; and differential perception of the passer-by, assessing the perception of the visual quality of built environment. Hypotheses have been explored that (1) in general, people do not pay attention to urban visual communication, (2) there is a differential perception between passers-by in displacement on foot and passers-by in displacement by bus, (3) this differentiation focuses on the categories and performances of urban visual communication. Results show that aesthetic performance influences the perception of the two types of passers-by. However, functional performance is especially relevant to the passer-by in displacement by bus.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Uma das marcas da passagem de uma sociedade tradicional, pessoalista, para uma sociedade moderna \u00e9 o desenvolvimento da impessoalidade nas rela\u00e7\u00f5es de sociabilidade. A cidade moderna se caracterizou por ampliar essas rela\u00e7\u00f5es, que deixam de ser restritas aos espa\u00e7os privados e passam a ocorrer tamb\u00e9m nos espa\u00e7os p\u00fablicos. Um dos lugares nos quais se desenvolvia a sociabilidade era nos bondes. Por terem existido no Brasil desde final do s\u00e9culo XIX at\u00e9 a d\u00e9cada de 1970, os bondes marcaram, do ponto de vista do transporte coletivo, um momento significativo do desenvolvimento do pa\u00eds, uma vez que estiveram presentes durante o processo de crescimento de muitas cidades, constituindo-se como um dos principais elementos indutores do crescimento urbano e de integra\u00e7\u00e3o de diferentes espa\u00e7os, como, por exemplo, entre os arrabaldes, mais adiante bairros, e o centro das cidades. A tese desenvolvida neste estudo \u00e9 a de que os bondes, al\u00e9m de terem contribu\u00eddo para o desenvolvimento urbano, integrando espa\u00e7os f\u00edsicos e expandindo a cidade, contribu\u00edram tamb\u00e9m para a inser\u00e7\u00e3o do indiv\u00edduo na cidade moderna pelo exerc\u00edcio cotidiano de sociabilidade que as viagens propiciavam. Essa sociabilidade n\u00e3o acontecia apenas no interior dos bondes, na rela\u00e7\u00e3o indiv\u00edduo e espa\u00e7o, as aberturas laterais, que permitiam subir e descer praticamente em qualquer lugar, depois as janelas grandes e abertas, tamb\u00e9m possibilitavam que o indiv\u00edduo estivesse mais pr\u00f3ximo do espa\u00e7o f\u00edsico da cidade e das pessoas que caminhavam ou se assomavam nas janelas para ver o bonde passar rente \u00e0s suas cal\u00e7adas. A pesquisa teve como objetivo geral investigar as representa\u00e7\u00f5es sociais e o imagin\u00e1rio coletivo constru\u00eddo sobre as viagens de bonde e sobre a cidade durante as viagens. A partir dessas representa\u00e7\u00f5es, buscou-se, primeiro, compreender qual o papel dos bondes como elementos estruturadores da cidade para depois analisar as intera\u00e7\u00f5es sociais que ocorriam em seu interior e discutir a rela\u00e7\u00e3o indiv\u00edduo-espa\u00e7o. O recorte urbano temporal foi a cidade de Porto Alegre, capital do Rio Grande do Sul, entre 1890 e 1945, no alcance f\u00edsico das suas linhas de bonde. A escolha por este recorte temporal deu-se pela import\u00e2ncia que teve este per\u00edodo para o desenvolvimento e moderniza\u00e7\u00e3o da cidade, especialmente na \u00e1rea de transporte, como a constru\u00e7\u00e3o da Av. Borges de Medeiros, Av. Farrapos e a canaliza\u00e7\u00e3o do Arroio Ipiranga, entre outras obras relevantes para a cidade.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
\nOne of the marks of the passage from a traditional society, personalistic, to a modern society is the development of impersonality in sociability relationships. The modern city is characterized by expanding these relations, which are no longer restricted to private spaces but also begin to occur in public ones. One of the places in which sociability where developed was the cable cars. According to the commom point of view, the cable cars marked a significant moment in the development of the country for having existed in Brazil since the late 19th century until the 1970s, once they were present in the growth process of many cities, establishing itself as one of the driving elements of urban growth and integration of different areas, such as, between the suburbs, further neighborhoods, and the city centers. The thesis developed in this study is that the cable cars, not only having contributed to the urban development, by integrating physical spaces and expanding the city, but also contributed to the insertion of the individual in the modern city by the daily sociability exercise which the trips provided. This sociability did not just happened inside the cable cars, the individual and space relationship, the side openings, which allowed passengers to get on and off almost anywhere, and the big and open windows also made it possible for the individual to be close to the physical space of the city and the people who walked or loomed by the window to see the cable car pass close to its sidewalks. The research aimed to investigate the social representations and the collective imaginary built on the cable car rides and the city during these trips. From these representations, it was sought to first understand which role the cable cars had, as structural elements of the city, and then analyse the social interactions that took place inside it and the relationship between individual and space. The temporal urban range was Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, between 1890 e 1945, in its cable car extension lines. The choice for this time range was given by the importance this period had for the city development and modernization, especially in the transport area, such as the construction of Borges de Medeiros Ave., Farrapos Ave. and the canalization of Arroio Ipiranga, among other relevant works for the city.<\/span><\/p>\n
