RESUMO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No final do s\u00e9culo XIX, o Brasil recebeu milhares de imigrantes italianos que partiam de um de um pa\u00eds rec\u00e9m unificado em busca de novas possibilidades e oportunidades de vida e trabalho. Muitos destes vieram ocupar as terras devolutas localizadas nas encostas montanhosas do hoje Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, concedidas pelo ent\u00e3o governo imperial brasileiro para a coloniza\u00e7\u00e3o. Na bagagem, estes camponeses, em sua grande maioria, trouxeram conhecimento, tradi\u00e7\u00f5es, h\u00e1bitos, costumes, enfim, valores de uma cultura pr\u00f3pria que passou a ser expressa sobre o territ\u00f3rio, mesclando-se com a cultura do pa\u00eds de destino, transformando o espa\u00e7o em lugar, e este em refer\u00eancia de pertencimento e identifica\u00e7\u00e3o. Enquanto se modifica, em fun\u00e7\u00e3o das r\u00e1pidas mudan\u00e7as sociais, econ\u00f4micas e culturais decorrentes dos processos de industrializa\u00e7\u00e3o e moderniza\u00e7\u00e3o, integrados ao contexto hist\u00f3rico da modernidade, o lugar tamb\u00e9m se valoriza e se reconhece mediante a preserva\u00e7\u00e3o de seu patrim\u00f4nio. \u00c9 no lugar que a cultura adquire a sua dimens\u00e3o simb\u00f3lica e material, a mem\u00f3ria se cristaliza e a identidade se consolida e se reafirma. Esta identidade peculiar, predominante sobre outras, que neste estudo, entende-se como \u201cuma italianidade\u201d, fruto da viv\u00eancia de seus cidad\u00e3os em simbiose ao lugar habitado, se apresenta como marca de um territ\u00f3rio cuja hist\u00f3ria permanece consubstancialmente vinculada \u00e0 cultura da imigra\u00e7\u00e3o. \u00danica em sua manifesta\u00e7\u00e3o e representatividade, possui no pa\u00eds de origem, a It\u00e1lia, uma refer\u00eancia, pois se insere em um contexto global, assumindo variadas formas de express\u00e3o vinculadas ao tempo e espa\u00e7o onde se manifesta. A italianidade sempre esteve adaptada e integrada ao processo de moderniza\u00e7\u00e3o desta regi\u00e3o, podendo ser identificada mediante a an\u00e1lise do seu extenso patrim\u00f4nio cultural, material e imaterial, onde tra\u00e7os, marcas e s\u00edmbolos de sua presen\u00e7a nele permanecem inscritos. Conhecer, conceituar e contextualizar a ess\u00eancia da cultura que caracteriza os ambientes urbanos e rurais de uma sociedade, reveste-se de fundamental import\u00e2ncia para embasar a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de estudos, dos mais diversos, nas distintas \u00e1reas do conhecimento e, principalmente, para as a\u00e7\u00f5es anal\u00edticas e propositivas de planejadores urbanos e regionais.

ABSTRACT\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the 19th century, Brazil received thousands of Italian immigrants who left a newly unified country in search of new possibilities and opportunities in life and work. Many of these came to occupy vacant lands located on the mountainous slopes of what is now the State of Rio Grande do Sul, granted by the then Brazilian imperial government for colonization. In their luggage, these peasants, the vast majority, brought knowledge, traditions, habits, customs, in short, values of their own culture that began to be expressed over the territory, mixing with the culture of the destination country, transforming the space in place, and this in reference to belonging and identification. While changing, due to the rapid social, economic and cultural changes resulting from the processes of industrialization and modernization, integrated into the historical context of modernity, the place is also valued and recognized through the preservation of its heritage. It is in the place that culture acquires its symbolic and material dimension, memory crystallizes and identity is consolidated and reaffirmed. This peculiar identity, predominant over others, which in this study is understood as \u201can italianity\u201d, the result of the experience of its citizens in symbiosis with the place they inhabit, presents itself as a mark of a territory whose history remains substantially linked to the culture of immigration. Unique in its manifestation and representation, it has a reference in its country of origin, Italy, as it is part of a global context, assuming different forms of expression linked to the time and space where it manifests itself. Italianity has always been adapted and integrated into the modernization process of this region, and can be identified through the analysis of its extensive cultural, material and immaterial heritage, where traces, marks and symbols of its presence remain inscribed in it. Knowing, conceptualizing and contextualizing the essence of culture that characterizes the urban and rural environments of a society is of fundamental importance to support the production of studies, of the most diverse, in different areas of knowledge and, mainly, for analytical actions and proposals from urban and regional planners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
