Ao final de Junho \u00faltimo, para minha grande surpresa, no Parque do Hospital de Neuch\u00e2tel, vi um pardal que apresentava todos os sinais exteriores de um animal albino. Ele tinha o bico esbranqui\u00e7ado, muitas penas brancas nas costas e nas asas, e a cauda era da mesma cor. Aproximei-me, para observ\u00e1-lo de perto, mas ele voou embora. Pude segui-lo com os olhos durante alguns minutos e ent\u00e3o ele desapareceu pela Ruelle du Port.<\/p>\n

Apenas hoje vi no “Rameau du Sapin” de 1868 que \u00e9 mencionada a exist\u00eancia de p\u00e1ssaros albinos; o que deu-me a id\u00e9ia de escrever as linhas precedentes.<\/p>\n

*** O professor Piaget informou-nos que o motivo dessa publica\u00e7\u00e3o foi mostrar ao diretor do Museu de Ci\u00eancias Naturais de Neuch\u00e2tel que ele era muito ativo no trabalho de campo e, a partir disso, obter permiss\u00e3o para trabalhar no museu nos hor\u00e1rios em que permanecia fechado ao p\u00fablico. O ent\u00e3o menino de 11 anos queria ser levado a s\u00e9rio pelo diretor, que mais tarde tornou-se o seu mestre no campo da zoologia.<\/p>\n

An Albino Sparrow
\n1907<\/p>\n

At the end at the last June, to my great surprise, in the Faubourg de l’Hopital at Neuch\u00e2tel, I saw a sparrow presenting all the visible signs of an albino. He had a whitish beack, several white feathers on de back and wings, and the tail was of the same color. I came nearer, to have a closer look, but he flew away; I was able to follow him with my eyes for some minutes, then he disappeared through the Ruelle du Port.<\/p>\n

I have just seen today in the Rameau de Sapin of 1868 that albino birds are mentioned; which gave me idea to write down the preceding lines.<\/p>\n

*** Professor Piaget inform us that he published in order to show the curator of the Neuch\u00e2tel Museum of Natural Sciences that he was active in the fields, so that he might be granted permission to work at the museum out of regular hours. The 11-year-old boy wanted to be taken seriously by the curator, who was to become his master in the field of zoology.<\/p>\n
