A session on actualistic taphonomy, led by Micha\u0142\n      Kowalewski and Claudio G. De Francesco, brought together researchers\n      interested in sharing experiences and developing scientific\n      questions from a South American perspective.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      These exchanges continued during a postgraduate course in Porto\n      Alegre, Brazil. The discussions led to the proposal known as the\n      <em>South American School of Taphonomy<\/em>, aimed at integrating\n      research across different environments, organisms, and spatial\n      scales.\n    <\/p>\n\n    <p>\n      In 2016, Matias do Nascimento Ritter, Claudio G. De Francesco,\n      Fernando Erthal, Gabriela S. Hassan, Eleonor Tietze, and Sergio A.\n      Mart\u00ednez published the\n      <em>Manifesto of the South American School of (Actualistic)\n      Taphonomy<\/em> in <em>PALAIOS<\/em>.
