                    [rl_value] => É uma forma de reiniciar a partida, geralmente após uma das equipes cometer uma penalidade. O Scrum consiste na formação de "packs" de 8 jogadores de cada time em posição de agachamento em conjunto e de frente um para o outro. A equipe que cobra o Scrum deve inserir a bola por baixo da formação e levá-la até o fim dela para ter a sua posse em mãos e prosseguir as jogadas. Qualquer equipe que forçar o colapso da formação ou empurrá-la para baixo forçará o reinício da jogada ou cederá uma penalidade em favor do adversário.

                    [rl_value] => O scrum é o meio de reiniciar o jogo após uma interrupção que tenha sido causada por uma infração leve às Leis (um passe para frente ou uma bola derrubada) ou por que a bola não pode continuar a ser jogada em um ruck ou maul. O scrum serve para concentrar todos os forwards e os médios scrum em um local do campo, proporcionando a oportunidade para os três-quartos prepararem um ataque usando o espaço criado em outro lugar. A bola é introduzida em jogo no túnel entre as primeiras-linhas, num local onde os dois hookers possam disputar a posse, tentando puxar a bola com os pés em direção aos seus companheiros de equipe. A equipe que introduz a bola em geral retém a posse, porque seu médio scrum e hooker podem sincronizar as suas ações.
Uma vez que a posse tenha sido assegurada, uma equipe pode manter a bola no solo dentro do scrum e tentar empurrar os adversários ao longo do campo. Como alternativa, podem trazer a bola até o ultimo pé no scrum, de onde é passada para os três-quartos e inicia uma nova sequência de fases de jogo aberto.
