Após ser embobinada, a fita se sustenta somente pelo atrito entre suas superficies, sem proteção lateral (flangeada), razão pela qual o enrolamento deve ser realizado com um mínimo de tensão de maneira que a fita não se desenrole ao ser retirada do prato sobre o gravador.
