This year’s edition seeks to draw our participants to join the process of building a new world that is necessary and possible. A new world through institutions that represent all realities, relationships that respect everyone and, in this sense, that turn the place we live in into an environment more inclusive for different needs and choices. These challenges are only possible to overcome when people hear and are heard by others, making each of us protagonists of the construction of new patterns and structures. This is the invitation that the XIV UFRGSMUN makes to everyone: we will discuss and think together on solutions to overcome the challenges of today's world and build a new place where different realities have a voice.
The logo of UFRGSMUN 2016 recaptures the essence of the logos of previous editions (mainly the ones between 2007 and 2013), as it brings back the name of the event in lowercase and the same font. At the same time, the altered “u” in “ufrgsmun” represents cohesion and integrity in the event, as it links the “m” to the “n”. On the other hand, again the image chosen to the logo is a globe - not a conventional one, nonetheless. The deformed circles in it represent a world in constant transformation, with ever-changing challenges and protagonists. The azimuthal projection used in the globe - as the UN flag - seeks, moreover, to show the possibility of a new world, more democratic and fair.
With all this in mind, the present logo will be here to stay: instead of bringing a brand new visual identity every year, UFRGSMUN’s face from now on will be based on this edition’s. This assures a better recognition of the event and also brings the idea of institutional continuity from year to year. We hope you’d enjoyed!
