Marker for screening oil supplies

Technology background
Screening of oil supplies obtained from single-celled organisms is a global trend to find oil lines with ability to replace vegetable oils as feedstock to produce biodiesel. The Red Nile is the dye used to mark more lipid droplets – raw material for biodiesel – in yeast cells, and which has been standardized in the search for candidates oil cells. It is, however, cause concerns about instability, damaging reliable estimates. Other dyes have been widely explored in microalgae, but with little application in yeast.

Technology description
Use of high thermostability and photostability molecule como corante para marcação de gotas lipídicas em leveduras oleaginosas candidatas para substituir óleos vegetais como matéria prima para produção de biodiesel..

Problem Fixed
Replacing the dyes currently used for display of lipid droplets, especially the red Nile, This invention solves the problem of its low photostability and thermostability.

Advantages
-Product quality (Product does not degrade in the presence of light);
-Efficiency (Allows the preparation of samples in serial plates);
-Reduction of time (Decreases the time of sample preparation and handling).

Applications
Molecule of great importance in the biodiesel industry and oils, since it will facilitate the screening of new oleaginous organisms without relying on adjustments in the infrastructure or be careful with light to detect lipid droplets.
-biodiesel industry and oils;
-Pharmaceutical industry .
