Pesquisando Inovação

Tudo começou em 2010, ano em que iniciei o curso de Administração e também, no segundo semestre, iniciei como bolsista de iniciação científica do Núcleo de Estudos em Inovação (NITEC) da EA. Assim, desde o primeiro ano da graduação, a pesquisa esteve presente na minha formação. Entrar nas empresas para entender como elas lidam com inovação e discutir com o grupo de pesquisa caminhos para fazê-las inovar mais me cativou. Dez anos depois, cá estou, ainda na pesquisa. Nesse meio tempo, escrevi, junto ao NITEC, artigos científicos, concluí o mestrado, fui a eventos acadêmicos debater inovação, fui professora, passei 6 meses fazendo parte do Doutorado na George Washington University nos Estados Unidos, e aprendi muito. Na verdade, continuo aprendendo. Como pesquisadora, tenho a constante busca por entender a dinâmica da inovação nas nossas empresas brasileiras – e isso não para nunca.


Atualmente, estou pesquisando sobre o processo de construção de capacidades de inovação. Para o desenvolvimento do estudo, estão sendo utilizados dados dos projetos “Os Caminhos da Inovação na Indústria Gaúcha” e “A Evolução das Capacidades de Inovação de Empresas Industriais”, ambos coordenados pelo NITEC/UFRGS.
O projeto “Os Caminhos da Inovação na Indústria Gaúcha” foi realizado de 2010 a 2014 e envolveu quatro universidades gaúchas: UFRGS, UNISINOS, PUCRS e UCS. O projeto recebeu apoio financeiro do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) e da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (FAPERGS). O objetivo do projeto foi compreender a dinâmica de inovação na indústria gaúcha, com base nas capacidades de inovação (desenvolvimento, operação, gestão e transação) de mais de 1.300 empresas. O projeto “A Evolução das Capacidades de Inovação de Empresas Industriais” é uma nova edição do projeto “Os Caminhos da Inovação na Indústria Gaúcha” e objetiva reaplicar a pesquisa na mesma amostra de empresas disponíveis no banco de dados e avaliar a evolução de suas capacidades de inovação nos últimos anos. O projeto recebe apoio financeiro do CNPq.

A minha pesquisa se dedica justamente a comparar os resultados dos dois projetos (de 2014 e 2020) e entender como ocorre a construção de capacidades de inovação nas nossas empresas industrias. O desenvolvimento de uma série histórica, com dados consolidados, permitirá responder às seguintes questões: as empresas já encontraram suas trajetórias de inovação? Como as capacidades de inovação das empresas mudaram? Como foi o processo de construção de capacidades de inovação?
Os resultados do estudo serão importantes para que tomadores de decisão públicos e privados possam otimizar suas decisões no intuito de agregar maior valor à economia brasileira, a partir de políticas públicas ou estratégias empresariais. Esses resultados basearão a discussão da minha tese de Doutorado, além de serem divulgados em forma de artigos científicos, apresentados em eventos abertos para a comunidade e disponíveis de forma resumida nas mídias sociais do NITEC.

Também adoro fazer excursões a diferentes empresas e estudar os seus processos internos, organizar o trabalho no escritório e na produção, etc. Mas, infelizmente, percebi que nem sempre as empresas estão dispostas a demonstrar suas inovações ao público para não perderem a vantagem competitiva sobre os concorrentes.
