“Weak inversion in analog circuits applied to  analog-to-information conversion”
Prof. Luis Henrique Ferreira, UNIFEI (MG)

Abstract:

Since there is a market trend indicating the growth in the wearable devices utilization, which sends ever more amounts of data to cloud services over the current IoT solutions, we understand that the analog-to-information (A2I) technique is the ideal solution for minimizing both the amount of data traffic and power con sumption of those devices. In this talk, we intend to show how an asynchronous modulators and their circuitry based on weak inversion operation may be used to extract valuable information from bio-signals, such as the QRS complex or the heartbeat rate from an electrocardiogram signal, for example.

Speaker’s short Biography:

Luis H C Ferreira has been on the Systems Engineering and Information Technology Institute at Federal University of Itajubá, MG, Brazil, where he is an Associate Professor and Researcher. From 2004 to 2006, he worked as an IC Design Engineer at Freescale Semiconductors, SP, Brazil. From 2011 to 2012, he was with the Tufts University, MA, USA, as a Visiting Scholar of Electrical and Computer Engineering conducting research on low-power circuit techniques in nanometer CMOS process for biomedical application. His research interests include multivariable feedback control for industrial application and low-power analog and mixed-signal circuit design for biomedical and life sciences application.
