Keynote speakers

Angelica Paiva Ponzio

Professor Angelica Paiva Ponzio is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and in the Graduate Program in Architecture (PROPAR) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, where she has taught since 1994. She holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Architectural Design from GSAPP, Columbia University (New York), and a PhD in History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture from PROPAR/UFRGS, with a research period at Politecnico di Milano funded by CAPES. In 2024, she was a Visiting Professor at the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) through a PVE/PRINT/CAPES grant to study the use of AI in design processes, during which she conducted workshops both at the Bartlett and at the Kingston School of Design.

She coordinates BIMCell/UFRGS, a research and extension initiative affiliated with the Brazilian Association for Technology in the Built Environment (ANTAC). She is a member of the Scientific Committee of SIGraDi and contributes actively to the international DigitalFutures community. Professor Ponzio is also a recognized specialist on the Italian architect Gio Ponti, having collaborated on major international exhibitions at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Paris) and the MAXXI (Rome).

Her current research focuses on the development of creative methodologies in architecture and interior theories, with an emphasis on reflective practice and the integration of analog and digital media. She explores the intersections between digital and computational workflows — including BIM, parametric design, digital fabrication, and generative AI — with particular attention to authorship, agency, and AI literacy in architectural education.
