Base flow filter programmed in MS Excel
In the article “Defining parameters for Eckhardt’s digital baseflow filter” we investigated ways to define the maximum base flow rate parameter (BFImax), for flow separation in hydrographs, with the use of an inverse base flow filter, and with a equation based on Q90/Q50.
Subsequently, other research such as Dora (2013), Mattiuzi (2013) and Mattiuzi et al. (2016) carried out other tests even more in-depth, validating the results of using the filter and applying it to estimate the recharge in aquifers in river basins.
If you are interested in the subject, I provide here an example spreadsheet in Excel with the base flow filter programmed.
