Ayan Santos Fleischmann

I’m a hydrologist with particular interest on wetlands and large scale basins, mainly in South America and Africa, and in the context of human impacts on water resources. My main study approaches involve remote sensing techniques and hydrologic-hydrodynamic modeling. Currently, I’m a researcher at the Large Scale Hydrology Group, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. I also lead the Conexões Amazônicas initiative for science communication about the Amazon Basin. I hold a PhD degree from UFRGS, and my PhD thesis focused on the hydrology of the South American wetlands. I hold an Environmental Engineering degree (UFRGS), with research stays at Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier (France) and University of East Anglia (UK).
