Extension of the Defense Deadline

Master's and Doctorate students may request an extension of the regular deadline for completing the course (which is 24 and 48 months, respectively for dissertation and thesis) or for the defense of qualification (12 months, in the case of the Master's degree, and up to 24 months in the case of a PhD). To do so, it is necessary to fill out a request for an extension of the course completion deadline, which must include justifications for the extension of the deadline, an updated schedule and the requested extension period. The extension request must be filed with the Program at least 40 (forty) days before the maximum completion period expires. Once forwarded to the PPG Psychology Secretariat, such request will be assessed by the Program Board, which will be responsible for approval.

The procedure is the same for requesting an extension of time for the qualification of dissertation and thesis projects.

To request an extension, the student, in full agreement with their advisor, must digitally complete the application below and send it in digitized format (PDF), duly signed by GOV.BR, ICPEdu, among others, to the email ppgpsico @ufrgs.br
