MASTER PROGRAM
The PROMEC master program is aimed at professionals from the engineering and related fields who want to improve their scientific background in mechanical engineering. With a combination of fundamental courses and a supervised scientific research work, the students acquire a sound education that enable them to face the challenges related to research, development and innovation processes.
During the two-years of the program the students take 24 credits in courses and other activities (1 credit equivalent to 15 hours) and engage in a research work in which they will apply their knowledge in solving a selected problem using experimental and theoretical tools. Scientific communication, written and oral, is an essential part of master's education. Students have the opportunity to develop these skills in seminars and congresses, as well as in their thesis.
To obtain the master degree, the students have to submit a manuscript (master thesis) and give a public presentation to a Committee composed of professors and professionals in the field (the complete set of requirements for master's degree approval are listed in the PROMEC Rules and Procedures).
REGISTRATION AND SELECTION
The program accepts applications from candidates graduated from Engineering, Physics and Mathematics. The annual selection usually takes place between November and December. Information about the selection process is found in the Selective Processes section. Foreign students can request special help at this stage by writing a message to the PROMEC email.
SCHOLARSHIPS
There are no tuition fees for the master program. Additionally, foreign candidates are eligible to receive scholarships from Brazilian research agencies like CNPq and CAPES. Candidates have to declare their interest in the scholarships during the application process.
