Nanocomposites for immobilizer radiotherapy of head cancer

Technology background
Radiation therapy is a branch of medicine that seeks cancer treatment through the interaction of ionizing radiation with tissues and organs affected. It is a technique that aims to apply high doses of radiation, with minimal damage to adjacent tissues. Immobilizers are used to maintain the position of the patient for effective action of radiotherapy. The immobilizer after two treatment cycles are deformed and may cause errors in the location and reproducibility of daily treatment.

Technology description
Immobilizer polymer nanocomposites used in radiotherapy , made 3D printer. With the use of these nanocomposites, decreases the interaction of radioisotopes object on delaying the deformation of the immobilizer.

Problem Fixed
Reduction of the deformations arising along the immobilizing treatment, allowing the reproducibility of the treatment.

Advantages
– Reproducibility of radiotherapy;
– Preservation of the adjacent healthy tissues;
– Decreased spending on treatment to minimize the effects of radiation on the immobilizer.

Applications
–
Oncological hospitals;
– Industry Radiological Protection;
