Flexible duct with corrosion resistant armor

Technology background
Flexible pipelines are widely used in the oil and gas industry for high altitude applications., medium and low depths due to its technical characteristics. Therefore, are capable of flowing fluids under extremely severe conditions of pressure and temperature.

Technology description
This UFRGS technology aims to apply improvements in anticorrosive aspects for high-end applications to tensile reinforcement of flexible pipes., medium and low depths through the application of polymeric coating by extrusion processes, electrostatic deposition or by spraying processes.
These coatings combine different formulations that can be suitable for each specific application giving the combination of good mechanical properties, thermal and chemical resistance resistance and good surface finish, showing uniformity and shielding the substrate against aggressive agents.

Problem Fixed
The invention solves the problem of stress corrosion in metallic reinforcement of flexible pipes caused by high CO2 reinjection pressures..

Applications
This technology can be applied in flexible pipelines for oil and gas exploration, avoiding, from the beginning, that corrosion mechanisms are triggered in these components.

Advantages
– Increased service life of flexible pipes;
– enables the reinjection of gases to increase the productivity of wells;
– can work at high depths and in conditions of contaminants in large concentrations.
