Technology background
during the last decades, numerous techniques for deposition of thin films onto surfaces have been developed and marketed. Thin films usually have a thickness less than 10 microns. Of the techniques in question, The most commonly used are chemical vapor deposition (CVD), spray deposition (spray) and thermal atomization deposition.
Technology description
The present invention describes a process capable of coating metallic surfaces, in particular metal alloys used in prostheses and/or orthopedic and/or dental implants, with calcium phosphates, in particular calcium phosphates with a Ca/P ratio similar to hydroxyapatite. This method consists of the combustion of a solution containing Ca and P on the surface which is desired to be coated..
Additionally, the present invention describes a device capable of carrying out this coating process, as well as the metal surface covered with calcium phosphate.

Problem Fixed
The present invention solves the problem of lack of crystallinity that hydroxyapatite coatings usually present., as this process produces crystalline coatings, where there is no need for further heat treatment.
Applications
Its main use is the possibility of covering metal prostheses and implants with hydroxyapatite for use in orthopedics and dentistry..
Advantages
The main advantage of the invention is the low cost of raw materials. (precursor solution) and process used in the production of hydroxyapatite coatings when compared to the commercial production process thereof. It should also be considered that the invention has high deposition rates, which commercially can represent a high productivity.
