Technology background
The steel used in various human activities suffers deterioration in its life cycle. Estima-se that 20% the steel produced is intended for the replacement of corroded parts. Corrosion can be minimized through strategies that modify the metal reactions / half; from the methods of protection against corrosion, there is the extensive use of corrosion inhibitors. This is an added substance to the solution which is capable of altering the electrochemical reactions in order to increase the corrosion resistance. While there are clear advantages in the use of corrosion inhibitors, these in turn can present serious risks to those who are exposed to the same. Most commercial use of inhibitors have a formulation based on heavy metal salts, as chromate-based compound and arsenic, and exhibit high toxicity both for humans and for the environment. Its toxicity can manifest as much in the application phase synthesis.
Technology description
Use of protic ionic liquids as corrosion inhibitors for the steel chlorinated media, originating a synthesis route through chemical reaction employing inexpensive starting materials and environmentally friendly.
Problem Fixed
The proposed product has the ability to mitigate up to 95% the steel and aluminum corrosion rate in media chlorinated, without causing harm to the environment and human.
Advantages
-The proposed product has environmentally friendly features;
-Have application efficiency equivalent to other commercial products in general are toxic;
-It is not flammable;
-Has chemical stability up to 200 ° C.
Applications
The product proposed here may be of great interest in engineering, with applications in various industrial sectors, such as, industrial boilers, heat exchangers, cooling systems, Water pumping stations, the mechanical metal sector, temporary action as an inhibitor of production steps between different applications where aggressive environment containing chloride ions.
