The Extension activities of the Department of Soil cover actions and projects of different modalities. The Soil Testing Laboratory is a reference in providing services in the area, carrying out analyzes for farmers of RS and other states of the federation.In the area of survey and classification of soils, mapping, characterization and evaluation of the attributes works are performed, in an activity that serves rural enterprises, cooperatives, associations and communities linked to family farming.

The interaction with the productive sector and the public sector is also produced in joint projects for the evaluation of industrial, domestic and treatment stations waste, regarding its use as fertilizers and correctives. Courses are offered in the area of precision agriculture, agricultural machinery and implements and management of soil fertility, among others in the areas of knowledge.
