Second meeting of GPMC!

This Thursday (September 17) at 10 AM, we will have the second GPMC meeting of the semester. The session will feature a presentation of the research paper “Consumer Mobility and Localized Market Performance: A Systematic Review with an Integrative Synthesis of Market Exposure and Conversion,” by Rafael Albuquerque and Vinicius Brei.

The study investigates how consumer mobility relates to market outcomes, such as purchases, consumer spending, and sales. Based on a systematic review of 86 articles, the authors show that different types of data, including visits, GPS, sensors, transactions, and digital interactions, provide distinct types of information and should not be interpreted in the same way. In particular, mobility should not be directly equated with demand or market performance. The study proposes an exposure-conversion framework to explain how consumers presence and movement can create market opportunities without necessarily translating into market outcomes.

Everyone is invited to join us!
