Welcome to LEMA (Laboratório de Ecomorfologia e Macroevolução – at The Department of Ecology of UFRGS), a lab interested in the patterns and processes of phenotypic evolution over time.

Our research aims to understand the historical and ecological processes influencing phenotypic diversification and its biogeographical distribution. We use morphological data from museum specimens, ecological data, phylogenies, geographic data of species, and frequently apply geometric morphometric tools and phylogenetic comparative methods to answer empirical questions concerning the origin of ecomorphological diversity. Evolutionary radiations of rodents have been a major focus, but other groups are also being studied.
